One of my favorite toys was introduced on this day in 1960, (whoo-hoo, it is older than me!!) Etch-a-Sketch went on sale. Andre Cassagnes invented this toy in his basement in France. Ohio Arts visited the International Toy Fair in Germany and…HISTORY!
Have you ever heard of a Dymaxion Car? Me either, until today. Buckminster Fuller, a quirky and creative inventor, architect, author and designer. This teardrop shaped three-wheeled vehicle that could carry 11 and travel 90mph (although he claimed 120mph). This 20’ long vehicle got 30mpg, which to me seems great for the time.
President Abraham Lincoln approved a law creating the US Army Medal of Honor in 1862.
1389, Geoffrey Chaucer was named chief clerk of King Richard II’s works. He is best know for his Canterbury Tales. He intended for the book to include 120 stories but he died after having only completed 22 in ten years. I thought I had writer’s block.
