Bond, Tylenol, Kotter & The Red Cross

Birth Mother’s Day – Interesting day created in 1990 for mothers  who have put a child up for adoption.
International Migratory Bird Day – Not sure if this day is Migratory Bird Day celebrated internationally or if we are celebrating birds that migrate internationally.
Iris Day – Beautiful late spring bloomer of purples and whites.
No Socks Day – Time to take out your sandals. I would prefer that not celebrate this day in sneakers, loafers or other NON sandal shoe.
V-E Day – Victory in Europe Day (WWII)
World Red Cross/Red Crescent- Thanks to the great health help organization. Support your local Red Cross. If you cannot donate red blood, donate green cash or good old fashioned blue time.

WHA' HAPPENED??
  • Going For the Gold in 1541. Mississippi River is espied by European eyes (probably for the first time) when Hernando de Soto reached the continental barrier just south of what we know is Memphis, TN during his search for gold.
  • The First Draft in 1792? Congress passed part 2 of the Militia Act requiring all white male able bodied US citizens between the ages of 18 and 45 to enroll in the militia.
  • Say It Ain’t So, Dr. No. James Bond hit the big screens in 1963 for the first time starring Sean Connery in Dr. No. Producers were originally leaning toward Cary Grant or James Maon. The author, Ian Fleming wanted David Niven. I think they chose well.
  • Welcome Back! to 1976The theme song to Welcome Back, Kotter, featuring a kid named John Travolta (wonder what happened to him), hit number one on the charts. Thanks John Sebastian.
  • My Boycott is Better Than Yours in 1984. The USSR boycotts the Olympic Games, to be held in US. And it had nothing whatsoever  to do with the US boycotting the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
  • Blame Her in 1988. Stella Nickell is convicted of tampering with Excederin. She placed cyanide in capsules meant for her husband. It is her “fault” that you get a headache just from opening a bottle, box, jar or package of EVERYTHING.

I will do my best to review this comment and add it as soon as possible. Sorry, but if it is mean, crude, disgusting or irrelevant I can't post it. Remember we are supposed to be celebrating not dragging people down.
