1914 Colorado Milita attacks a tent colony of strikers to end a coal-miner’s strike which had lasted over 7 months. 66 men, women and children were killed, including 11 kids and 2 women found in a pit that had been dug out under one of the tents, they had been burned to death.
1926 Western Electric introduced the Vitaphone. A movie recording system that added sound to film. First sound added movie was Don Juan and featured score by NY Philharmonic. The Second…The Jazz Singer which included music and 350 words of dialogue.
1978 Korean Air Lines veers into Russian Airspace and is then forced to land on a frozen lake killing two.
1999 Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado is shot up but two students. 13 killed.
2008 Danica Patrick became first woman to win an Indy Car race!
